How many times have you faced this problem that you created a nice looking image with a right color combination and had uploaded to your WordPress dashboard or web and the main color effect lost? I am sure you must have realized this. The one which you created and the other that is showing on the web must be different in quality. So now the question is, why is this difference?
Usually, we create images using Adobe Photoshop, which is considered as one of the best tools to create and edit images with a large number of available tools, customization, and colors. But when it comes to WordPress, we have only RGB options.
That means no matter how quality and eye-pleasant images you are creating, as soon as you upload it to WordPress, it will convert that image to the usual RGB which does not support all the combinations of Adobe Photoshop. There is a loss in image quality and saturation.
How to Fix Color and Saturation Loss
So to avoid the above issue, we have few solutions which will not let the WordPress decrease the quality of the images that you upload to your WordPress dashboard. You will have to do a little tweak before you upload.
Method 1: Using Adobe Photoshop
Our fist option is to use Adobe Photoshop. Just go to Edit Color Settings. Here you need to select North America Web/Internet in the setting dropdown. Now navigate to the last section of this dialog box and select the RGB to “Convert to Working RGB”. Now save your settings.
Now save the changed image and you are done. Repeat this process for all the images you have and now you won’t find any color or saturation loss in the images once you will upload to WordPress dashboard.
Method 2: Using CMYK Converter
Yeah, we have many more method to convert the images to RGB, and that can be done without Photoshop as well. Here I am going to show you how you can do this using a CMYK Converter.
What is CMYK converter?
CMYK Converter is a web application that can easily convert CMYK images to RGB and vice versa. The conversion can be easily done with these simple steps.
- To convert your image, first you need to upload the photo to the site.
- The photo must be either in JPEG or TIFF format, with a maximum size of 8MB.
- Then choose the conversion process – either CMYK to RGB or RGB to CMYK. Finally, click the convert button and download the image to your computer.
The benefit of using CMYK converter over Photoshop is, it has a very simple interface and not like filled with a large number of apps like Adobe, and so anyone can easily use this tool.
Method 3: Using a WordPress Plugin
This method applies to all the images which have already been published or yet to get uploaded. Again this is a free method using which you can resize your image so that it won’t look bad after using it for any WordPress post.
If pixelation or color loss is noticeable in an image file you’ve already uploaded, you can use the WP Resized Image Quality WordPress plugin to minimize those imperfections. This plugin changes the compression level of images to improve their quality. It can be a last-minute panacea if you’re unable to improve your images before uploading them to WordPress.
Resized Image Quality WordPress plugin lets you quickly change the compression level of uploaded JPEG images and thumbnails. Set it for maximum quality when you want images to look their best, or take advantage of lower quality settings to save bandwidth.
All you have to do is, just install this plugin and access it by navigating to Settings and then to Media on your WordPress admin dashboard. The default image compression setting for JPEG is 90% which you can change as per your need from the dashboard.
The only limitation with this plugin is, it only support JPEG format of image. This is due to the fact that WordPress doesn’t currently support PNG compression internally. To get rid of this issue, you will have to use any third-party plugin like EWWW Image Optimizer.
This is another great plugin to work on the images so that it will give a good user feel. This plugin uses image editing application to your WordPress installation. This plugin is mainly used to sharpen the edges of the images that you are going to upload.
This plugin can make your images “pop” a little more and help you improve some of those “not too blurry, but could be sharper” images you’ve published in the past.
You have to select the picture and from the plugin dashboard, do some changes as per your need. You can choose the border radius, the amount of sharpness, compression quality, and few other customization to have a better result. Now just save your image and use it in your post and see the differences.
